May 18, 2026 - PWEP Update: Bruce County Official Plan_Public Meeting announced

Friends,

Just a quick note to inform you that the Bruce County Official Plan Review has entered its final stage. The final Draft Official Plan is now available, and it shows no evidence that PWEP and the community's concerns have been addressed. The historic Inverhuron settlement area as well as the Lakeshore have been designated as Secondary Urban Communities, despite municipal and county officials' commitments to reverting the designation to Hamlet. We will remain in conversation with the planners in the coming weeks leading up to the public meeting, but we may need to apply pressure through an email campaign targeting County Council. We hope that if that time comes, you will consider participating.

In the meantime, we highly encourage you to reiterate your comments and concerns to County Planning at planthebruce@brucecounty.on.ca prior to the public meeting. You can get more background information on our website here

The dates for the Open Houses and the Public Meeting have been announced, as follows:

The PWEP team will attend the Public Meeting.

As a reminder, the new BC Official Plan will shape planning and development throughout the County for the next 20 years, until 2046. Let's make sure we do everything we can now to protect Inverhuron for the coming decades.

Stay tuned! We will reach out again in the next couple of weeks.
