April 7, 2025 – Update on Tidman and Land Use Designation option to participate

Friends,

As some of you might already have heard, the Tidman property is up for sale. You can view the listing by clicking on this link.

We see this as a positive sign, as it likely indicates that the developer may be encountering some difficulties. Our collective actions are bearing fruit! PWEP's legal counsel has of course been informed, and we are keeping a close eye on the situation.

As for the judicial review concerning the Tidman property, all the material for the upcoming hearing on the issue of standing has been filed, and over the coming weeks we will be preparing intensely for the hearing at the end of the month. The exact date has not yet been scheduled.

Now, with the Tidman land up for sale, it's more important than ever to keep the pressure on. PWEP's lawyer believes our chances of being granted standing by the court are very good. This judicial review powered and backed by the community continues to send out a very important message: environmentally irresponsible development will not be accepted in Inverhuron!

Thanks to your incredibly generous contributions over the past weeks and months we have been able to raise almost the entire amount we need to complete this stage, but please consider donating whatever you are able to help us reach our goal before the hearing. We are very close! We are deeply grateful for your continued trust and support, and are working harder than ever to make every dollar go a long way. This will probably be the last time we'll ask for a while, so please, if you can, donate here.

Land Use Designation

As for our work pertaining to the land use designation of Inverhuron in the framework of Bruce County's ongoing Official Plan Review, we are making some good progress as well: as mentioned in our previous newsletter, county planners are working on their recommendation to revert the historic Inverhuron settlement area north of CR 15 to Hamlet, rather than the current Primary Urban Community designation. We are still negotiating a solution for the area south of CR15, and are standing firmly by our original request made in the PWEP Alternative Land Use proposal (see page 1 and attached maps) that this area should not be designated as an urban community, either primary or secondary, as this would invite intensive development such as the proposed Sundance project into the area.

Here's how you can participate: if you are a property owner south of CR15 and are interested in learning about how you can request that your property be removed from the secondary urban community designation with the purpose of limiting intensive development throughout the area, please just send us a brief email letting us know, and we will share with you information on how to proceed. It may take a week or more for us to respond, depending on the volume of requests, so please bear with us.

Last but not least, we are always looking to grow our mailing list in order to reach as many members of the community as possible, so please share PWEP's website with friends and neighbors.

More updates soon. Stay tuned!

In gratitude,

The Team @ PWEP
