You've been hearing a lot from us lately, so we'll keep it brief. Just a very quick reminder that we'll be holding our first-ever Water Seminar at the Bourgeois / OFT farm next Thursday, on July 2nd.
There are a couple of exciting additions to our list of speakers – see the full schedule below. Because it's a full day and we realize that everyone has a busy schedule, if you can only come for a portion of the event – for example the lecture series in the morning – you are more than welcome to do so. We just ask that if you plan to stay for lunch you RSVP (if you haven't done so already), so we can be prepared to accommodate everyone. In addition to learning about the ecology and health of our local waterways, the event will also be an opportunity to catch up on pending matters and ask any questions you may have about PWEP's ongoing activities.
The schedule:
10am-12pm: presentations by:
Elder Shirley John of Saugeen First Nation, a respected keeper of Traditional Knowledge
Chelsea Gowton, Ontario farmland Trust (OFT) Demonstration Farm Project Manager
Emily Williamson, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) Water Quality Technician
Dr. Ron Griffiths, principal taxonomist at Aquatic Ecostudies Ltd. AEL has provided aquatic taxonomic identification services to Canadian and US federal agencies, provincial and state governments, NGOs, Ontario conservation authorities and private sector clients since 1983.
12pm-1pm: lunch break (lunch provided to attendees)
1pm-2pm: sampling workshop (short walk to Little Sauble River)
2pm-3pm: discussion of findings and wrap-up
What to Bring: a pen and notebook; comfortable walking shoes.
When and where: Bourgeois / OFT farm at 2 Alma Street on July 2nd.
